Busy Busy Busy

I have been so busy lately that I have been horrible at keeping up with the blog- sorry. :(

Highlights in my life as of late:

  • Haven't been having as many Migraines lately, but I still have had several since my last appointment. I will be going back to the doctor on March 4th.
  • I went to the dentist for the first time since 2001. I had 8 surface cavities. But, my dentist (whom I also babysit for), said since it's been that long since I've been to the dentist that that's not too bad. I will be having them filled sometime in the near future.
  • I LOVE LOVE LOVE my life group. It's such a fun group & we laugh together, cry together, worship together, and study His Word together. :)
  • School is extremely tough on me right now...well, just World Lit and Philosophy. There's so much reading and I'm just not comprehending well...but I'm know God will get me through it.
  • Physics, Supervised Ministry, and Cross Cultural Ministry classes are going very well.
  • I've been taking some dance classes...I've learned the Tango, Waltz, Foxtrot, Rumba, Country Waltz, and Two Step. All in a 1 hour class period. I have two more lessons to take, both that I'm taking tomorrow.
Well, I need to go finish up an outline for a research paper on Voltaire so I can submit it online by midnight.

Top 10

Top ten reasons to donate to the Blue Monkeys in MDA's Stride and Ride.

10. Our team has the coolest name.

9. You have to appreciate a non-profit who holds their walk indoors for climate control.

8. All the money raised locally goes to help clients here in the Coastal Bend and to research.

7. This walk is billed as the family reunion for MDA clients. As an indoor walk, people of all mobility levels can join in on the fun. The people that benefit from the walk, participate and you can see who you're helping.

6. Seriously, the emcees love us! Blue Monkeys gets mentioned a LOT.

5. MDA research has been helpful in identifying several genes for not only the neuromuscular diseases covered in MDA's program, but other diseases as well.

4. Because you and/or your children are healthy. Muscular dystrophy is thought of as a genetic disease and it often is, but there are several clients I know that were the first in their family to be affected. Some were diagnosed as children; others have an adult-onset disorder.

3. All donations are tax deductible.

2. MDA uses approximately $0.79 of every dollar donated directly to client services and research. Only approximately $0.21 of every dollar is used towards administrative costs.

1.Not only do we have the coolest name, but the coolest team!

The Motions by Matthew West

This song really speaks to me:

Matthew West - The Motions
From the album Something To Say

This might hurt
It's not safe
But I know that I've gotta make a change
I don't care If I break

At least I'll be feeling something
'Cause just ok
Is not enough
Help me fight through the nothingness of life

Chorus
I don't wanna go through the motions
I don't wanna go one more day
Without Your all consuming passion inside of me
I don't wanna spend my whole life asking
What if I had given everything?
Instead of going through the motions

No regrets
Not this time
I'm gonna let my heart defeat my mind
Let Your love
Make me whole
I think I'm finally feeling something

Take me all the way
Take me all the way
Take me all the way

God, I just ask, beg, pray that you will help me to stop going through the motions, because I want more than just motions with you.

MDA Stride and Ride

I have been volunteering with the Muscular Dystrophy Association for over 7 years now! In two weeks, we are having a walk, called the Stride and Ride at Sun Rise Mall. It is an event to raise money to provide flu shots, leg braces, wheel chairs, summer camp, and many other things the patients need.

60/60 Day

For those of you who haven't heard, our church is doing a 60/60 experiment. For 60 days, every 60 minutes, our watch beeps as an auditory reminder to refocus on God. You can check out Pastor John's blog and OCJourney to hear more about it.

I just posted this on the OC Journey website about my day.

WOW. What a day. I have never in my life felt God speak to me the way He did today. When i got to Del Mar this morning, I realized that I had left my purse at home...normally I wouldn't have minded because I usually go home after class, but today I was having lunch with my aunt, and so I needed my purse.

I ended up getting out of my Physics lab early, but not early enough to come all the way back to this side of town and then back to Del Mar. So, I called my mom & asked if I could pick up her debit card. she said yes, but that I needed to grab her some lunch & bring the card back. So, I went to burger king and headed to the Valero to use the ATM to get me some money. On the corner opposite the Valero station, I saw a man with a sign that said 'Homeless. Anything helps.' As soon as I read it, God said, 'help him' to me. So at the Valero, I picked up a bottle of water & a ham and cheese sandwich to give to the man. When I got back outside, he was gone. I was a little angry and even asked God, 'Why did you have me spend the money for him to be gone when I came out?' So I took my mom her lunch & card and headed back over to Del Mar. On the way, I was praying, asking God to show me someone who needs a meal. I prayed over the sandwich and water, asking Him to bless it to the nourishment of whoever's body that needed it & I was begging God to show me someone. I turned on to Baldwin from Greenwood & noticed that my clock said 11:57AM. As soon as I saw the time, I knew it was going to be a 60/60 thing. So i prayed and asked God to please show me someone when my watch beeped.

I kid you not. My watch beeped, I looked at the next corner, and there was a man holding up a homeless sign. I was on the complete wrong side of the road, but I was able to drive through a neighborhood and came up to the side of the street where he was. I was about 3 or 4 cars back and waved at him. He did the kinda half nod acknowledgment wave and looked the other way. I rolled my window down and waved at him & held up the bag with the water and sandwich in it. He smiled and started making his way over to me. He walked with a limp and was very slow. The traffic started to move, so I put my hazard lights on and moved closer to the man. He came up to my window, and I said, 'It's not much, just a sandwich and water.' He looked at me and said softly, 'Oh, thank you thank you so much. God bless you. Thankyou.' I could hardly say anything after seeing the gratitude on his face, I almost cried right there in front of him. As I turned the corner, the waterworks started.

I was so amazed to hear God talking to me as plainly as He did today...and right as my watch beeped.
