Prayer Request

I have the opportunity to move in to a house with my friend Megan. It would just be the two of us in a nice two story house with a big back yard. It would be completely rent free...we'd just split the cost of electric, water, etc. Which shouldn't be that much. I could afford it by babysitting a couple times a month.

The problem is, it's all the way in Callallan. I know, it's not that far, but I have stuff to do in town like every day...and it would be hard for me to just 'swing by the building' to get work done or to run to SCS or something like that...I'd have to plan it out. Megan and I could possibly ride out together (because she works MWF and will be taking classes TR), but it would just be difficult, I think.
So, if you could pray for my decision, I'd appreciate it.

Also, 16 days until I leave, 17 days until I see my dad!!!

Acting like a "College Kid"...for once

99.5% of the time my "night out" includes me & kids...or kids parents. Meaning I'm either babysitting or, occasionally, hanging out with my friends who are the parents of the kids I sit for. While I love all "my" kiddos and their parents (my friends), sometimes I just want to go be a "college kid" and forget about time and just relax and have fun (and totally not saying I don't have fun with the kiddos and or my friends who are parents...it's just...different). I honestly don't remember the last time I did that...until tonight.

My great friend Tiffany turned 21 yesterday & she decided to have her bday party at Wallbangers followed by Karaoke & Pool at Paradise Pool Hall. While I opted out of the Wallbangers Portion (HEY, it's BACHELORETTE night! I can't miss Bachelorette! <3 ), I joined them at about 930 at Paradise. We had an ABSOLUTE BLAST!!! It was so much fun! I can not remember the last time I laughed so hard! We only played one round of pool & then it was karaoke for the rest of the night. I actually got over my fear and sang a couple of songs (Happy Birthday, Don't Stop Believin' -Journey!, and Girls Just Wanna Have Fun!!! ). Probably one of the best and funniest parts of the nights was putting the boys names down to sing "Man, I feel Like a Woman" by Shania Twain...the best part was that they really got into it & were singing it at the top of their lungs! I took a video, but the quality stinks...it's all pixelated.

Anyway, I had an absolute blast and felt like a "college kid" instead of the responsible person I am (not saying I wasn't being responsible---just had fun dressing up and forgetting about the time). And, if you notice the time stamp on this post (and if it's correct), it is 3:18am. And I'm wide awake...

25

25. Twenty-five. Vente-cinco. 25 days until I go to OHIO! 25 days until I see my dad for the first time in OVER 12 years. I can't believe it's this close. In 3 weeks, I'll be frantically packing and getting ready to go. I am SO excited!!

Wednesday night service

Megan R and I went to PIBC last night for their youth/college Wednesday night service. We had a great time. My friend Eric is the Youth Pastor there & he, of course, made us feel welcome/embarassed with his little squeal of 'AmbER' when I walked in. lol. It was pretty funny. Nobody else said a word to us until after the service when I told Eric that...then everyone became friendly.

It's so true though that people need a nudge to talk to new people. I've been so comfortable at Oso with my group of friends and working and I think that maybe I've been doing the same....staying in my comfort zone and not jumping out and saying Hi to people who are visiting.

I was very excited about the worship music. It was very much like Oso (We sang Marvelous Light, which I've heard like a bazillion times since B2B) but geared toward youth-fast paced songs that they could jump around to. Eric recorded a CD demo during Spring Break (which i got to hear at SCS right after he recorded it). It's a great CD, and we were lucky enough to be there as he debuted 4 of the songs. I can't wait for the CD to come out next month so that I can buy it!

All in all, it was a great evening that we ended with Taco Bell. =)

Thanks, God...for saving my life...literally

Yesterday, I completely and totally felt the presence of God. I don't want to get into too many details, but I'll explain a bit. A friend of mine's father's house was broken into & vandalized. Her aunt called us & asked us to go check it out. When we got there, the person who had broken in had also changed the locks. We went around the back of the house to see if we could get into the back door when we met the neighbors. They talked to us and told us what was going on. Later, another neighbor came by and said that he had seen the boy who had been breaking in jump the fence about 30 minutes ago. I looked at my watch, and it had been about 35 minutes since we had tried the front door...so, we are assuming that he was in the house when we were rattling the door knob. I can't imagine what would have happened if we would've been able to get in and see him sitting on the couch, smoking his joint (that was laying on the coffee table). There were weapons everywhere that he could have very easily picked up and used on us or he could have raped us or held us hostage or anything.
I praise God for being there with us and allowing the doors to be messed up and the neighbors to be there. I think if the neighbor wouldn't have stopped us to talk to us, we would've been coming around the back door just at the time he was going out.

Kyrie's Graduation Party

One of my very best friends, Kyrie, graduated from Rice University this month! I am SO prooud of all that she's accomplished. We've known eachother for over 16 years & I am blessed that God has put her in my life...and allowed her to stay in my life for 16 years, almost 3/4 of my life! These are pics of the graduation party at the Omni this last weekend. We had a blast!

Beach to Bay Pictures!

Beach to Bay was a blast! Though it was insanely HOT and HUMID (isn't it always in CC?), I had so much fun and I took 11 minutes off my time from last year!!!!

I am going to continue running! :) In fact, my good friend Anna and I are entertaining the idea of running a half marathon in December....except that I saw it's actually in October...we shall see....

PRE Beach to Bay

Today is Beach to Bay...I'm the last leg, again (by choice), so I'm being picked up in about an hour to head to my hand off point and wait until Michelle hands off to me. I'm super excited that it's B2B day. Except that I feel horrible...I woke up several times in the night (possibly because of all the water I drank yesterday?) so I'm tired. I have a headache/stomach ache, which I was thinking was nerves, but I'm thinking I'm running a fever too. UGH.

More update later (probably tomorrow--I've got a busy day today)...as well as pictures. =)

Grades!

Well, another semester gone by...
Foundations for Cross Cultural Ministry- B
Philosophy- C
Supervised Ministry- A
Physics- B
Physics Lab- B
World Literature- B

Not sure why my Physics Lab is a B...unless it's because I broke several labs...he would put them together & I'd touch them & they would fall apart- OOPS. :)

I am SO thankful for the C in Philosophy! I was REALLY worried about it...tried to drop it in the middle of the semester, but they wouldn't let me. Had I dropped it, it would've meant I would've had more time to study for all my 'B' classes, possibly turning those to A classes...but also, it would've postponed graduation for yet another semester.

It's SUMMER!
